Luke 13: 20-21 – Parable of the yeast

Luke 13:

20Again he asked, “What shall I compare the kingdom of God to? 21It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough.” -niv

Meditations:

1)  We are to be like the yeast that works through the dough. We are ambassadors of Christ at our working place and as we exert christian influence at our place of work, we become witnesses for christ. And we are to be on the lookout for opportunities to evangelise and preach Jesus Christ. Eventually, the kingdom of God or believers will increase in number.

2) We cannot convert an individual. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to change the individual. It is in God’s hands.

3) Jesus spend most of his time with 12 disciples. Instead of trying to influence the whole world, maybe we can work on those that are closest to us.

4) Before I became a christian, I remembered how my mentor was humble enough to serve me drink when I asked him to and I was impressed with his humility. A phD guy serving me, wow! We need to be humble when we witness.

5) As long as we witness consistently, people will notice. And when they are curious, we preach christ.

6) Most of the time we are ’sowing’ the seeds, it will take time before the harvest is seen. And maybe somebody else will do the job of helping in converting the person to christ.
