Fear God, honour the king

1 Peter 2

13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. …17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.  -kjv

13 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority:whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. … 17 Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor. -niv

13 Submit to every human authority because of the Lord, whether to the Emperor as the supreme authority 14 or to governors as those sent out by him to punish those who do what is evil and to praise those who do what is good. …17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the Emperor.  -hcsb

Scripture on submission to government authorities and the basis of that submission.

  1. Sounds as if OUR GOD wishes us to respect our leaders of our country or land since our leaders are to punish the people who do crimes against us. I agree but where is the scripture which tells the leaders, the kings, the presidents, to be fair and just and be honest? I see almost none doing this. I know God will punish in the next world. Why does he allow these wicket people and leaders to kill and injure their citizens and tax them beyond belief. The Bible is not a law book.
